Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Installation - 2022 Volkswagen Jetta

Hey guys, Kevin here with the etrailer and today I'll gonna be showing you how to install the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver here on our 2022 Volkswagen Jetta. Typically when you have only a one and a quarter inch receiver opening all you're really gonna be putting in here is your bike racks, your cargo carriers and other hitch mounted accessories. You won't typically be towing a trailer but in the event that you have a small enough trailer maybe you get like a kayak trailer and you need to tow with it, there are safety chain loops already welded onto our hitch right here. You are just going to need to make sure that you go ahead and get your 4-pole wiring so you can transfer your light signals from your Jetta up to that trailer. And if you need help doing that, go ahead and reach out to our experts via the S expert link on every product page and we can help find the correct wiring harness for your vehicle. Now when it comes to capacities, this hitch only has a 2,000 pound gross towing weight capacity and a 200 pound tongue weight capacity so you're gonna really wanna keep that in mind when you're adding on your accessories or trying to tow a trailer. more

So here's where our hitch is gonna look like, once we have it installed on our Jetta. It is gonna sit right below the bumper and that cross tube is gonna be visibile just right below. Now our hitch is a Class 1, which means it's gonna give us that inch and a quarter by inch and a quarter receiver tube opening. And it's gonna be great for adding a bike rack or a cargo carrier onto the back of our Jetta. Now, the way we're gonna mount all of our accessories, is to the hitch pin hole here on the side and it gonna accept a standard half inch pining clip. more

Best 2016 Volkswagen Jetta Trailer Hitch Options

So, you have a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta, and you need to get a bike rack, a cargo carrier, maybe even a small trailer, to wherever you need to go. You wanna add some utility to your sedan. Now, there's a few different ways to do that, but really, the tried and true, and I think, safest method, is putting a trailer hitch receiver on a vehicle. Now, I know that sometimes it doesn't seem appealing to put something like that on a Jetta, but, you do have options. As you can see here, a nonvisible cross tube. That's definitely one option to go if, maybe that function and form kinda have to match in your eyes. more

Hello neighbors it's Brad here at etrailer.com. And today we're going to take a look at the EcoHitch Hidden Trailr Hitch Receiver on a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta. So this hitch receiver for the Jetta is a two inch by two inch. Now, on some of the other hitches for this vehicle, they aren't the standard two inch size, they're one and a quarter, which kind of limits you a little bit to what your accessories you can put on here. So this is nice you have that availability. Also, you're going to see it's completely hidden minus the actual receiver itself. more

Today we are going to be installing hitch part number 11070 from Curt on a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta. We are underneath the vehicle now and we are going to go ahead and point out the mounting locations for the trailer hitch. Here on the passengers side, you can see we have got a tow loop. And we have got one hole here, and on some models you will have the second hole here as well. We are going to use these as two attaching points for the hitch on the passengers side. And then, over here on the drivers side, we are going to be drilling four holes into the side of the spare tire well. So the first thing you want to do is to remove any components that you may have in the spare tire well. And then we will come back down here, and we will put the hitch up over the passengers side and then drill our holes. Over here on the drivers side, before we get going I am going to go ahead and lower the exhaust down to gain more room to drill my holes in the side of the trunk well. You can see we have got one large hanger here. We just need to take this stud off of the rubber portion. To do this, I am going to use a little spray lubricant, like a WD-40. And I am also going to lower the one here at the forward side by doing the same thing. more

There is an existing hole here on the back side of the tow loop that is going to be one of the mounting points. We actually are going to hold the hitch up into position using the bolt and the nut into this hole location and then kind of straighten the hitch out and mark all the other holes, because all the other holes are going to have to be drilled out. more
